Objective 

  • Your primary role will be to lead the Digital and Information Technology team, providing knowledge and innovation within the vocational education landscape.  

  • You will be stay at the forefront of digital research, trends and best practices to achive the company’s strategic plan. 

  • And you will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s digital strategy and information technology systems.

 

Day to day 

Your part will be to lead the following. 

Plan and implement an IT Strategy – with responsibility for the effective delivery of projects and initiatives, and in the support of other business strategies 

Lead, support and develop the capabilities of your IT team – provide active coaching, set goals and KPI’s and integrate with the wider organisation 

Oversee IT operations – manage the IT team to provide an efficient break/fix service and manage change control processes to mitigate risk and minimise downtime 

Project management – define the project scope, manage and track outcomes 

Analysis and Business Solutions – work with internal colleagues in the analysis and development of IT enhancements

 

What you need to have 

  • Relevant IT tertiary qualification

  • Experience at a senior IT management level

  • Significant IT programme/project management involving production and change management methodologies

  • Sound, up to date knowledge of modern information systems and their application

  • The ability to take a strategic overview and make robust strategic IT decisions

  • Experience managing an IT team, budget and project outcomes

 

Personally, you will: 

  • Work quickly to gain a comprehensive understanding of the business, its background and key objectives and operation within the vocational training industry

  • Communicate effectively with a diverse group of people

  • Have the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently

  • Be attentive in the detail

Software 

The business uses: 

  • Windows 7, 8, 10

  • Microsoft 365, SharePoint and Teams

  • Student Management Systems (SMS)

  • Learning Management Systems (LMS)

  • Microsoft server including Active Directory, Exchange, SQL and management tools such as SCCM

  • TCP/IP networking including firewalls, routers and switches

  • VMWare and/or Hyper-V environments providing virtual machines

 

A note on the role’s location 

  • Ideally, the role will be based in Tauranga.   

  • However, consideration may be given to applicants who live in one of the employer’s other main locations. (Hamilton, Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch).
