Source of personal information

We collect personal information from you, including information about your:

  • name

  • contact information

  • location

  • type of employment, pay and job location preferences

  • your health and safety

  • previous criminal or traffic offences, as may be relevant to the employment sought and in keeping with The Criminal Records (Clean Slate) Act 2004

  • interactions with us

  • driver licence and/or passport

We may collect personal information from referees you have named, and this includes information about your:

  • past employment, conduct and interpersonal skills

  • other skills and experience attained in that employment

  • other detail as volunteered by the referee

With your consent, we may collect personal information from third party agencies who provide pre-employment checks as required by some employers, including:

  • Ministry of Justice

  • Credit reporting agencies

  • Drug & alcohol detection services

  • Medical health professionals, such as a GP

  • Skill testing and assessment service providers

Purpose for collection and who will receive it

We collect your personal information in order to:

  • assist us to confirm your legal entitlement to work in New Zealand, details relating to your health & safety, past employment, and to build up an understanding of roles that you may be suited to.

Besides our own team, we share this information with:

  • employers, who are clients of Changing Jobs, and with whom you are being considered for employment, in order to assist them to assess your suitability for employment in their business

  • referees you have named, and third party agencies you have authorised us to contact, to the extent required to conduct pre-employment checks

What if you do not want to provide information?

Providing some information is optional.

If you choose not to provide your original photo ID, or information requested in our Registration Form, or information that is reasonably requested during interview and a shortlisting process, we may elect not to represent you in your application for employment.

Storage and security of personal information

Digital

We keep your digital information safe by storing it with a cloud services provider who utilises encryption.  Our cloud services provider does not access information entrusted to them.  We allow only our current employees to access the information we hold digitally as and when required for the purposes of doing their job, as outlined above.

Hard copy files

Hard copy documents are kept safe in locked cabinets, buildings and/or vehicles when not in our possession. Documents that are no longer required, or which have been saved to the digital cloud platform, are destroyed.

Mobile phones & electronic devices

Information stored on mobile phones and other electronic devices (such as laptops and tablets) is kept safe by the use of passwords installed on the machines themselves.  These devices are stored in locked cabinets, buildings and/or vehicles when not in our possession.

Access to and correction of personal information

You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong.
